The water raises the stakes on everything: loads, access, and tolerance for error. Marine and maritime work — piling, moorings and coastal structures — is engineered to BS 6349, and offshore to DNV and API, because the environment gives nothing back.
My record runs from a BS 6349 reinforced-concrete quay and 50-metre marine piles at Aramco Port Berth 69 — fenders, bollards, docking systems and seawater fire main included — to current marine and subsea geotechnical work on ocean-energy arrays, optimising anchor and mooring solutions and weighing tension-piled against gravity-base options on a CESMM4 cost basis.
